Personal hygiene and general health are important social and life skills in one’s development towards a more independent and autonomous life. In various situations, it is not always an easy concept to implement.
In this personal grooming and health training workshop, New Reflections will help participants and their carers to develop greater awareness of the importance of personal hygiene and develop key strategies and methods for maintaining a strong level of personal hygiene.

Importance of personal hygiene and health: what happens when we take care of our hygiene and health versus health hazards related to carelessness.
Share with the group what you already do to take good care of yourself.
Showering, brushing teeth, using deodorant, getting dressed, combing hair, washing hands: why, when and how to create the ideal routine.
Intimate hygiene, sexuality and health: the key points.
Particularities of personal hygiene for women and personal hygiene for men.
Doctors appointments: GP, dentist and gynaecologist.
Actions and habits that will assist with personal hygiene and health vs. unhealthy actions and habits.
Clothes hygiene: minimum wardrobe content & guide to washing clothes Looking and smelling good to nurture a sense of personal pride.
Personal appearance and hygiene to boost confidence in social situations.
Set realistic goals for yourself and avoid comparisons.
Create your personal contract to monitor your daily habits' evolution.
We use a range of resources including practical applications, engaging visuals, role-play games, team activities, and more. From playful exercises to stimulating debates, our approach ensures interactive and effective learning.
Note: This workshop can be tailored for participants with disabilities. We have extensive experience working with ADEs (Australian Disability Enterprises).
